By offering live parcel tracking as a service Parcelive is essentially renting devices which are received by the user in time for their shipments to go out. Once the shipment is on its way there is no more physical contact betweenParcelive users and their device as all of the return logistics, charging and maintenance are handled by one of our Device Management Systems (DMS). The DMS is like a home base for Parcelive devices, where they return to after each tracking journey to be charged, undergo firmware upgrades and receive sensor calibration. This return and re-use enables Parcelive to be offered not only at a low price point but also at scale, as each DMS system is ably to process up to 2,300 trackers per hour.
So how does it work? Devices are placed into a top or ‘device tray’. Each device tray is paired with a bottom or ‘charging tray’ that flows through the DMS readying the devices for re-use. Used Parcelive devices are placed into the device tray on one side of the DMS and come out of the other side ready to go on their next tracking journey.
By handling this pain for the user Parcelive enables companies to reap all of the benefits of live tracking their entire distribution network at scale, without having to worry about any of the logistics of their devices. Having a live look on each of their shipments enables these users to see direct benefits to customer service, dispute resolutions and optimisation across their network. Innovation and scale.
